Daily Stoic: Push For Deep Understanding

“From Rusticus…I learned to read carefully and not be satisfied with a rough understanding of the whole, and not to agree too quickly with those who have a lot to say about something.” ~ Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 1.7.3

Inspired by The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living

This is good advice. When learning something, it is important to have a deep understanding of it. You just shouldn’t take things at face value. That is a problem a lot of us have in this fast paced world. We can’t have a deep understanding of anything in a 280 character Tweet, or in a headline that you scroll by, and yet still get enraged by.
We should continually be educating ourselves in order to grown and evolve. And it would also help
us have a deeper understanding of one another, and realize how much we have in common. We become stronger and more powerful together the more we get along and understand each other, and understand the way things work, or are not working in order to fix them.
