Daily Stoic: Philosophy As Medicine Of The Soul

“Don’t return to philosophy as a task-master, but as patients seek out relief in a treatment of sore eyes, or a dressing for a burn, or from an ointment. Regarding it this way, you’ll obey reason without putting it on display and rest easy in its care.” ~ Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 5.9

Inspired by The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living

I believe the point of today’s topic is that we should always work on being mindful. We all have busy lives, and it’s really easy to fall in a rut, and not give any attention to whatever is truly important to us. When we finally realize that we drifted off course from where we wanted our lives to be, we need to reset. But, if we continue to practice philosophy/stoicism regularly, we will stay on track to lead healthy lives.
